What Robotics Taught Me About Engineering

Robotics makes engineering feel real because every decision has to survive contact with the robot, the field, the team, and the deadline.

It is one thing to understand an idea in class. It is another thing to help design a mechanism, check how parts fit, think about sensors, and watch a robot do something different from what everyone expected.

One of the biggest lessons is that first versions are almost never final versions. A design can look clean in CAD and still need changes once the team sees how it behaves.

That can be frustrating, but it is also the point. Robotics teaches persistence because the work keeps asking for another try.

Robotics is not just mechanical or software work. It is communication. Teams have to explain tradeoffs, listen to feedback, make decisions, and keep moving.

That is what makes it a good place to learn engineering.
