From Idea to Children's Book: The Yawn That Traveled the World

Writing a children’s book taught me that creative projects have more engineering in them than people might expect.

An idea has to become a story. The story has to become pages. The pages have to work for a real reader. Then the whole project has to become something people can actually find and buy.

The Yawn That Traveled the World started as a creative idea, but publishing it through Amazon KDP made the project feel real. It involved writing, editing, formatting, and learning how a book reaches readers.

Several hundred copies have sold, which still feels exciting because it means the story left my computer and became part of other people’s lives.

Creative work takes persistence. It also takes a willingness to finish, even when the project could always be improved one more time.
